Hello, little explorer!
Have you ever seen a crab wearing sunglasses?
One sunny morning, the little dolphin was swimming near a group of rocks when he noticed something very unusual.
Sitting on the highest rock was a small red crab wearing a pair of bright sunglasses. He was turning from side to side, admiring his reflection in a shiny seashell.
The dolphin stopped so suddenly that a wave splashed over his head.
“Hey!” he cried. “Those are my sunglasses!”
The crab slowly looked up.
“Your sunglasses?” he asked. “That is strange.”
“Why is that strange?” said the dolphin.
“Because they are sitting on my face.”
The crab adjusted the glasses with one claw and struck another pose.
The dolphin swam closer.
“But I recognize them! I found those sunglasses during one of my adventures.”
“Found them?” replied the crab. “Then they were not really yours.”
“Well… I returned them afterward,” admitted the dolphin.
The crab began to laugh.
“So they were yours, but then you gave them back, and now you say they are yours again?”
The dolphin opened his mouth to answer, but no words came out.
The crab smiled proudly.
“I found them between two rocks after the tide went out. Therefore, they are now the official sunglasses of Captain Claw!”
“Captain Claw?” asked the dolphin.
“Yes. That is my new name.”
“And what exactly are you the captain of?”
The crab looked around at the empty rocks.
“This rock.”
Just then, a seagull flew overhead.
Captain Claw quickly hid behind the dolphin.
“I thought captains were supposed to be brave,” teased the dolphin.
“I am very brave,” replied the crab. “I was simply checking whether you were brave too.”
The dolphin laughed.
“All right, Captain Claw. May I at least try the sunglasses?”
“No.”
“Just for one little moment?”
“No.”
“I will give them straight back.”
The crab shook his head.
“You already returned them once. I do not trust you to return them twice.”
Before the dolphin could answer, a large wave crashed against the rocks.
WHOOSH!
The crab spun around three times, landed upside down in a tide pool and lost the sunglasses.
They flew through the air and landed perfectly on the head of a sleepy octopus.
The octopus slowly opened one eye.
Then another.
Then another.
Until all eight eyes were staring at the dolphin and the crab.
“Are these mine now?” the octopus asked.
“No!” shouted the dolphin and the crab together.
The octopus looked at his reflection in the water.
“They do suit me.”
The crab crossed his claws.
“They suit me better.”
The dolphin shook his head.
“They were mine first.”
The three friends stared at one another.
Then they all burst out laughing.
They finally decided to place the sunglasses on top of the highest rock. If their real owner returned, they would be easy to find.
But the following morning, the sunglasses had disappeared.
In their place was a trail of tiny bubbles leading away from the rocks and into the deep blue sea.
The dolphin smiled.
“It looks like the sunglasses have found another adventure.”
Captain Claw adjusted an imaginary pair of glasses on his face.
“Or perhaps another captain.”
And somewhere beneath the waves, something sparkled for just a moment before vanishing into the blue…
The End
Who do you think found the sunglasses next?
