Nina and the Lost Pumpkin Light

Nina and the Lost Pumpkin Light

On Halloween night, Nina, the little cat, put on her witch’s hat, her purple boots, and a pumpkin-shaped medallion.

The medallion had been a gift from her grandmother.

“It will shine whenever someone needs your help,” she had explained.

Nina had never seen the medallion light up. Even so, she wore it every Halloween.

That evening, the streets of Golden Leaf Village were filled with lanterns, costumes, and children carrying baskets of sweets. Nina was walking towards the village square when she felt something warm against her neck.

The medallion was glowing!

A small orange light pointed towards a dark garden.

Nina took a deep breath and stepped inside.

Behind a tree, she found a little ghost sitting on a stone. He was quietly crying.

“Hello,” Nina said. “My name is Nina. Are you lost?”

The little ghost lifted his head.

“My name is Pipo. I lost my pumpkin lantern. Without its light, I cannot find my way home.”

Nina looked around. On the ground, three tiny orange sparks formed a trail through the leaves.

“Let’s look for it together!”

They followed the sparks until they reached a hedge maze. The wind made the branches sway and filled the garden with strange noises.

Nina stopped.

“I think I’m a little frightened,” she admitted.

“So am I,” Pipo replied.

Nina smiled.

“Then we can be frightened together.”

They continued walking side by side. At the centre of the maze, they heard a very faint sound:

Clink… clink… clink…

Under a pile of leaves, Nina found a small pumpkin-shaped lantern. But its flame had gone out.

Pipo tried to light it, but nothing happened.

Nina touched the lantern with her medallion. A golden light suddenly illuminated the entire garden.

The lantern began to glow again!

“You did it!” Pipo cheered.

“We did it,” Nina replied.

Guided by the lantern, they left the maze and reached the village square. Near the fountain, three ghosts were waiting anxiously.

When they saw Pipo, they hurried over to hug him.

“Thank you for helping our little ghost,” his mother said.

Pipo gave Nina a star-shaped sweet.

“For the bravest cat of the night.”

Nina looked at her medallion. It was no longer glowing, but it was still warm.

That night, she finally understood the secret of its light.

Courage did not mean never feeling afraid.

Sometimes, courage simply meant not letting someone face their fear alone.

And beneath the Halloween moon, Nina and Pipo began a friendship filled with magic.
